Pool Glass Fence East York

Custom Pool Glass Fences Made for East York Properties

East York’s varied properties, from narrow in-town lots near the Danforth to spacious yards backing onto ravines, call for pool fencing designed to fit your space. Art Metal Workshop builds custom glass pool fences tailored to your backyard rather than a one-size-fits-all layout.

Glass pool fencing keeps your pool visible from the house or deck while creating a clean, open look. It’s ideal for private backyards as well as shared pools at hotels and recreational facilities. Each fence uses tempered or laminated safety glass built to meet the Ontario Building Code.

We measure your yard and build your custom pool fence on-site, using corrosion-resistant hardware designed for lasting performance.

Benefits of Pool Glass Fences for East York Properties

  • Enjoy water views from the patio, deck, or kitchen window; each offers an unobstructed view
  • Everything from how tall the fence stands to how the gate locks itself meets the Ontario Building Code
  • Fits a narrow in-town lot the same way it fits a wider property backing onto green space
  • The materials are picked to handle pool chemicals, weather, and sun exposure without breaking down over time
  • It satisfies the safety requirement, but it also reads as an upgrade an appraiser would notice
  • Where you want privacy instead of an open view, frosted or tinted glass handles that without walling off the yard

Pool Glass Fence Styles We Install

Frameless Glass

  • Glass is the only thing you see, since there’s no post or frame around the panels
  • Hardware at the base holds each panel upright, so nothing runs along the top or sides
  • The glass itself is the same tempered or laminated product used throughout the rest of our lineup

Post-Mounted Glass

  • The posts, steel or stainless steel, carry the panels and do the structural work the glass would otherwise need to do
  • That leaves the glass free to be thinner, since it isn’t doing the structural job itself
  • A step up from fully frameless, a step down from a complete frame

Metal-Framed Glass

  • Metal runs along every side of each panel, and that framing is what sharpens the fence’s overall look
  • The frame carries part of the structural load alongside the glass
  • Choose it when you want people to notice the fence itself, not just the yard around it

Frosted or Tinted Glass

  • Light still gets through the glass, but a clear view into the pool area doesn’t
  • Several opacity levels are available, so you set how private it feels
  • Works the same whether it’s mounted frameless, on posts, or inside a frame

Glass Pool Gates

  • Every pass through the gate ends with it closing and locking on its own
  • The gate isn’t a separate piece. Same glass, same hardware, matched straight across from the fence beside it
  • Built to the same safety standard as the fence around it

Commercial Pool Glass Barriers

  • A building with one pool for everyone, a hotel, a rec centre: the barrier system doesn’t change from what we’d build at a private home
  • Fabricated in the same workshop as our residential systems
  • Scales from a single gate to a full enclosure without changing the process

What Toronto Requires for a Pool Enclosure

East York is part of Toronto, so Toronto’s Fence Bylaw governs what goes up around a pool here, not a separate local rule. The enclosure must fully surround the pool, with no gaps except at the gate. The height starts at 1.2 m on a single residential property and rises to 1.8 m on a multiple residential or non-residential property. Keep it 1.2 m back from the pool’s edge and 1 m from anything easy to climb, with nothing climbable between 10 cm and 1.2 m off the ground on the outside. Gates need substantial hinges, a self-closing and self-latching mechanism, and must stay locked when nobody’s using the pool. A Zoning Certificate comes before the Pool Fence Enclosure Permit application, and the pool can’t go in the water until an inspection signs off on the enclosure. Glass panel fencing is one of the materials the bylaw accepts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my pool fence need more than one approval from the City?

Yes, typically two steps. First, apply for a Zoning Certificate through Toronto Building; once approved, submit the Pool Fence Enclosure Permit application with a site plan showing the fence’s location, height, and materials.

Yes. You need a compliant enclosure before you can use the pool, regardless of who built it or when. If the fence or permit is missing, the current owner must bring it up to standard.

At least 1.2 m on a single residential property, and 1.8 m on a multiple residential or non-residential property.

Yes. The City’s Fence Bylaw lists glass panel fencing as a permitted pool enclosure material, alongside chain-link, wood, metal picket, and masonry.

Price depends on the job size, the glass you choose, the design, site conditions, and the finish. Once we’ve looked at your property, we put together a number specific to that project.
